The Paragon Saxophone Quartet (formerly Saxploitation) was formed in 1993 and gave their London debut at St-Martin-in-the-Fields in October 1994. Since then, they have performed extensively and to critical acclaim across the UK, Europe, USA and Japan.
The quartet has also recorded for BBC Radio, BBC TV, and Classic FM. Over the last 14 years the Paragon Saxophone Quartet has amassed an impressive repertoire containing over 150 works and including 20 commissions.
With 2 Cd's already under their belt "Tuning In" and "Les Quatuors" the qaurtet has recently been recording with counter-tenor Larry Zazzo for their most recent project/CD "Byrd Land" which features the Works of Byrd and Dowland. In addition to the release and tour of this new CD, 2007 will show the Paragon Quartet presenting a UK tour of a totally unique and refreshed version of Vivaldi's Four Seasons for saxophone quartet and piano. This will be the UK premiere of an epic project that was a huge success in Japan.
The Paragon Quartet is heavily involved in educating and developing young talent and has given various workshops and master classes with many distinguished musicians and artists, including the Random Dance Company, SPNM and composer Michael Nyman. The quartet holds an annual Summer School, the only one of its kind to feature internationally renowned soloists.
